Joe–God Rescues The Believer–September 9

READ: 2 Peter 2:9

DATE: September 9, 2019

TITLE: God Rescues The Believer

HIGHLIGHT:

“then the Lord know how to rescue the godly from trials and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgement”

EXPLAIN:

The term “godly” refers to born again believers, those who have accepted Christ as their savior. These are people who fear and worship God in truth and Spirit. Peter states that God know how to rescue His children from trials. The term rescue means “to deliver.” God is able, knows how and is willing to deliver His children from trials. The term “trials” means “tests and temptations.” The term could refer to the trials of life or the temptation to sin.” The later usage bests fits into the narrative. God know how and is willing to rescue His children from sin. Christians are not perfect, they are forgiven. God is willing to rescue the Christian whenever they commit sin. Praise God for His gift of forgiveness. God is also able to deliver from sin. God can deliver from sin, no matter what the sin is.

APPLY:

I often need and experience God forgiveness of sin. I commit far too many sins. My self-life controls too often. I must come to my Father for His rescue, deliverance, from sin. I praise the Lord for His gift and grace of deliverance from the pollution and practice of sin.

RESPOND:

Lord, please keep me from the practice of sin. I confess I am like the dog and I return to often to my own vomit. I am like the washed sow that returns to her wallow and I wallow in sin. I confess I need you to keep me from sin so that I will not need to be rescued from sin.
