Phil HEAR Luke 7

Highlight
Luke 7:39 CSB
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "This man, if he were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him-she’s a sinner!"

Explain

Jesus was showing by example that He came to heal the poor in spirit; but the pharisees did not understand why He would allow a sinner to touch Him.

Application

Jesus reminds me that as He came and loved the poor, I am to realize that He judges our hearts and not our facade, and i should love others the same way.

Response

Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to think of everyone’s worth based on their heart for You and not their facade.

Stan’s HEAR for Luke 10:36-37

Luke 10:

36 @[redletter:“Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers? ”] 37 “The one who showed mercy to him,” he said. Then Jesus told him,@[redletter: “Go and do the same.”]

Explain

We, as Christians, to be the neighbor God wants us to be, must extend mercy to others (not giving people what they deserve).

Apply

I am not to judge people. I am to help them, right where they are. My problem is that I declare myself the judge, jury, and prosecutor.

Respond

Lord, You know that I sometimes want to take over your responsibilities, while not even doing my mine. Keep me in my lane!

Phil HEAR Luke 6

HighlightLuke 6:22-23 CSB
Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you, insult you, and slander your name as evil because of the Son of Man. [23] "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy. Take note-your reward is great in heaven, for this is the way their ancestors used to treat the prophets.

Explain
Jesus was teaching His disciples by giving examples if everyday life – good vs evil; even that they would be hated as He was hated.

Application
I must keep my eye on the Lord even when adversities arise, as they will because Jesus said so; and He will walk me through the trials to be stronger on the other side.

Response
Thank you dear Jesus for always being there with me and letting me know ahead of time that the evil one will try to undermine and destroy us because we are Your Light; thus I will not be surprised but rather should jump for Joy because satan doesn’t attack his own.

Stan’s HEAR for Luke 9:5

Luke 9:

5 If they do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”]

Explain

Jesus tells us to use our time diligently when witnessing to others. If they reject Him, move on!

Apply

I am guilty of spending too much time jamming Jesus down people’s throats. There are others, waiting in line to accept Him, that Jesus has appointed me to see. I need to use my time more diligently!

Respond

Lord, help me to keep a move on, when witnessing to people. Lead me to the ones that truly seek You!

Stan’s HEAR for Luke 8:8

Luke 8:

8 Still other seed fell on good ground; when it grew up, it produced fruit: a hundred times what was sown.”] As he said this, he called out, @[redletter:“Let anyone who has ears to hear listen.”]

Explain

Jesus is talking about we, the saved people. He is telling us that we should reproduce a hundredfold.

Apply

Have I reproduced 100 fold? No, I need to get on the ball for Jesus. The Bema Seat is just around the corner!

Respond

Lord, I promise You I will do a better job of witnessing this year. With your help, of course!

Stan’s HEAR for Luke 7:9

Luke 7:

9 Jesus heard this and was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, @[redletter:“I tell you, I have not found so great a faith even in Israel.”]

Explain

This is the first time I have realized that the centurion never saw Jesus. He sent Jewish elders to request the healing of his servant. No wonder Jesus said that He’d never seen such faith!

Apply

Although I have never seen Jesus, I have faith in Him. His spirit lives within me!

Respond

Lord, thank you for Your presence in my life!

Phil HEAR Luke 1

HighlightLuke 1:37 CSB
For nothing will be impossible with God."

Explain
Elizabeth was old and bore John, while Mary was a virgin and bore Jesus.

Application
God is still doing miracles today if we have faith and trust in Him; if we would only truly believe, He will do great things through us.

Response
Oh dear Father, please forgive me of my weak faith; help me to grow my faith in you everyday.

Stan’s HEAR for Luke 6:48 on 1/6/20

Luke 6:

48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built.

Explain

Jesus is telling us that our foundation (as brothers in Christ) needs to be built upon Him. If not, we will be washed away with the things of this world.

Apply

My foundation is on Jesus. My problem is my framing is out of wood and the winds of this ole corrupt earth, gets me swaying from time to time. I, at times, have to peel back the drywall and install a few more anchors to the One who sustains me.

Respond

Lord, my anchor holds upon the solid rock, You!

Stan’s HEAR for Luke 5:5-6

Luke 5:

5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we’ve worked hard all night long and caught nothing. But if you say so, I’ll let down the nets.” 6 When they did this, they caught a great number of fish, and their nets began to tear.

Explain

Although what Jesus said to Peter made no sense, he simply obeyed. The rest is history!

Apply

I waste my breath a lot, questioning God. My life would be much simpler, if I simply, obeyed, and watch him perform His miracles.

Respond

Lord, help my unbelief!
