Move the Mountain Ministries is dedicated to helping churches become energized. It is a resource site offering proven solutions to create organization and efficiency for small and medium-sized churches to generate the energy America’s churches need to be the light of the world.
Churches in America are facing a crisis. The number of people who call themselves Christians has decreased, while the “nones” – people with no religious affiliation – has increased. Some polls suggest that about 40 percent of Americans are regular church attendees, but real-life observation suggests that on any given Sunday only about 17 percent are in church, and that could drop to 15 percent by 2020.
One church in Arizona self-reported that 80 percent of its young families attend fewer than three Sundays a month, and that only 4 percent of the congregation attends 48 or more Sundays.
It takes no more than a casual look around to see the devastating results a church in crisis can have. Christians who are less committed are Christians who are being influenced by the world rather than being an influence on the world (a light that shines in darkness).
While a few mega-churches are growing, many draw almost exclusively from other, often smaller, churches. One survey shows that 58 percent of all churches in the United States (approximately 190,000) have congregations of 80 members or fewer. Often the low membership numbers result in a lack of organization, a loss of energy and pastors who are on the fast track to burnout.
Move the Mountain Ministries believes there is hope for America’s churches to become revitalized with new energy and once again become the light of the world and a city on a hill (Matt. 5:14). Our goal is to provide churches (especially small and medium-sized churches) and Christian organizations with resources that help them organize, operate more efficiently, generate new ideas and offer encouragement.
